June 23, 2016

Everyone dreams of getting a youthful, glowing and blemish-free skin.  Hundreds of skin beautifying products are available in the market. But it can be hard on the pocket since some of these products are very expensive.  Yet, there is still hope for those who are tight on the budget or for those who are looking for a more natural way of achieving a perfect skin.  Do you know that the way to a more beautiful skin may just come from our cupboards at home?

DARK CHOCOLATE

The yummy dark Chocolate helps our skin hydrated to keep it more firm and supple.  It is loaded with high levels of an antioxidant called Flavonol which improves the texture of our skin and it also strengthens our resistance to sun damage caused by UV rays.  A couple of squares of chocolates with at least 70% cacao will give you maximum flavonol content.

OATMEAL

Oats help keep our sugar levels stable thus also keep those wrinkle causing hormones at bay.  Oats are good for skin healing.  Aim for the steel-cut variety to get maximum effect.

SOY

The minerals and proteins in soy have proven to reduce hyperpigmentation thus helps us to have an even skin tone.

GREEN TEA

Green Tea is a powerhouse of polyphenols which makes it on the top most recommended beverage for its many health benefits which includes achieving a perfect skin.  The antioxidant EGCG also helps reduce redness and inflammations on our skin.  Drink at least 4 cups daily to get all the antioxidants you need.

WATER

Our body needs at least 8-10 glasses of water to keep our body hydrated.  A well hydrated body helps our skin cell membranes supple and enables them to easily absorb the nutrients we get from all the food and beverage we take.

FISH

Fishes rich in Omega-3 fatty acids are not only good for our hearts but it also good for our skin.  With the Omega-3, our skin is protected as it keeps our cell membranes fluid.

GARLIC

Achieve a lovely complexion with the aid of the skin protective properties found in Garlic.  Consider adding minced raw garlic to your dishes, it may be bad for your breath but it certainly is good for your skin.

TUNA IN A CAN

Selenium is a nutrient present in a can of tuna.  It is believed to aid in preserving elastin in our body.  Elastin is a protein necessary in keeping our skin tight and smooth.  Selenium also helps stop free radicals we get from exposure to UV rays from damaging our skin cells.

TOMATOES & WATERMELONS

Tomatoes are rich in Lycopene, this is the thing that gives it their red color.  When cooked, the Lycopene levels in tomatoes are amped up which will be very beneficial to our skin due to its ultraviolet ray shielding capability.  Less ultraviolet rays would mean less skin-aging.  Watermelons are also good source of lycopene, in fact, it has more lycopene than uncooked tomatoes.

SWEET POTATOES, CARROTS & ORANGE JUICE

These foods contain loads of Vitamin C which is essential for collagen production.  When collagen is abundant in our body, it lessens and prevents the appearance of wrinkles.
