Will Acne Scars Go Away?

Acne scars may seem like double punishment- you had to deal with the pimples first then you have to deal with the marks after.

Acne happens when the hair follicles on your skin are clogged with oil and dead skin cells. The optimal place for the bacteria to grow and become inflamed is from a clogged follicle.

Acne has 3 different forms:

• Mild Acne - this is the most common type that causes whiteheads and blackheads.

• Moderate Acne - are red and usually inflamed with white centers (also known as pustules)

• Severe Acne - these are filled with pus and are painful and reddish

The more extreme forms of acne are responsible for the most extensive scarring, with nodules more likely than other types of acne to leave permanent scars.

The best way to minimize scarring is to treat it as soon as it appears so that we can minimize further scarring.

Acne Scar Treatment

The majority of the acne marks that are left after pimples will naturally fade that need no treatment however, picking and squeezing your acne can increase the chances of it scarring.

Acne scars have two forms:

  1. Rolling scars - these scars have a gradual dip or depression.

  2. Deep scars - these scars are narrow and have deeper depression.

Please note that acne needs to be in control before acne scars can be treated. The choice of treatment depends on the severity of your scars. An esthetician can recommend a chemical peel first or microdermabrasion.

We can treat acne scars thru MesoAcne. This procedure is done with a topical anesthetic then tiny needles are pressed into the skin with a special serum that can help stimulate collagen production and hastens wound healing.

The treatment has no downtime and many people can return to regular activities right away. Others may need to take a day off due to swelling and pain at the affected site. Full recovery is expected within 2-3 weeks.
